Earning this status can be done in several different ways, and the perks can absolutely be worth the effort for frequent flyers.
How to get Atmos Gold status
To earn Atmos Gold status with Alaska and Hawaiian, you'll need to earn 40,000 status points in a calendar year. There are two primary ways to collect status points with Atmos Rewards: through flying or through credit card spending.
Starting in 2026, members will be able to choose how they earn status points, whether through distance flown, dollars spent or flight segments taken.

Status points can be earned through flights taken on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, or Oneworld or global partner airlines, such as American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas and others.

For flights credited to Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines, the number of status points you’ll earn is based on the distance you flew and the cabin and fare class purchased.
For example, if you fly one way from Los Angeles to Seattle in economy on an Alaska-operated flight, you’ll earn at least 954 status points, unless you purchase a ticket in the X fare class, which denotes Alaska's Saver fares. The number of status points you’ll earn on partner airlines is also based on a combination of fare class and distance flown.
Where you book your ticket from — directly with Alaska and Hawaiian or through one of their partners — will also affect the amount of points you will earn. You can find the most up-to-date information on Alaska’s website.
Very frequent flyers — those who fly 1,000,000 miles or more on Alaska — will qualify for Atmos Gold status for life.

Qualifying for Atmos Gold status through credit card spending
Atmos Rewards also allows you to earn elite status through its co-branded credit cards.
Depending on the card you hold, you can earn 1 status point for every $2 or $3 spent on your card. Select cardholders may be eligible to receive a 10,000 status point deposit each year just for having a card.
