NerdWallet's editorial picks: Best Bank of America® business credit cards

Click the card name to read our review. Before applying, confirm details on the issuer’s website.
Our pick for: Flexible travel rewards
The
Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card
pays solid rewards on every purchase and gives you wide flexibility in redeeming your points for any travel purchase, without the restrictions of branded airline and hotel cards. Learn more and apply.

Bank of America® Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card

Our pick for: Flat-rate cash back
If your spending doesn't align with typical bonus categories, consider the
Bank of America® Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
. This card offers
1.5%
cash back on all purchases with no annual cap. Rewards can climb even higher for Bank of America® customers who qualify for the bank's Preferred Rewards for Business program — up to 2.62%, depending on the tier — which is tough to beat among flat-rate cash-back business credit cards. Learn more and apply.
Our pick for: Bonus categories like office supplies and gas
The
Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
gives entrepreneurs a little control over their credit card rewards by letting them choose which category earns the highest cash-back rate. Options include gas (EV charging stations qualify as well), office supplies, travel, computer services and more. There are also bonus rewards on dining and no annual fee. Learn more and apply.
Our pick for: Airline miles
The
Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card
is well-suited for business owners who fly frequently on Alaska Airlines. You’ll receive ongoing rewards for spending with the airline, plus no foreign transaction fees. The card’s sign-up bonus, annual Companion Fare, free checked bag perk and other airline-specific discounts are also great travel benefits and help offset the already low annual fee —
$70 for the company and $25 per card
. Learn more and apply.

Bank of America® Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® Secured credit card

Our pick for: Secured business card
This card is rare on two fronts. First, it's a secured credit card that caters to businesses. Second, it earns 1.5% cash back rewards. The Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® Secured card requires a security deposit of at least $1,000, and your available credit line will be equal to your deposit. Bank of America automatically reviews secured accounts and you can upgrade to an unsecured card if your credit history improves.

Other business credit cards issued by Bank of America

Bank of America® also offers the Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business credit card, which has a competitive APR and a $0 annual fee. It does not earn any ongoing rewards, though, and has a shorter intro APR period than the bank’s other business cards.
Like the other Bank of America® small-business credit cards, this card typically requires excellent credit. But if your credit is strong enough to qualify for this card, you’ll likely find alternatives that can offer more benefits for your business.

Should you get a Bank of America® business credit card?

Bank of America® business credit cards are most beneficial if you use the bank for your checking account and qualify for Preferred Rewards for Business. That program offers bonus credit card rewards — plus additional perks like higher interest rates on business savings accounts and discounts on payment processing.
To qualify for Preferred Rewards for Business, you’ll need an average balance of $20,000 over three months in a business checking account with the bank and/or a linked Merrill business investment account. Higher average balances can move you into additional rewards tiers.
The highest tier, Platinum, offers a 75% bump in credit card rewards. For instance, if you qualified for that tier and had the
Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
, you’d get 5.25% cash back in your selected choice category instead of the standard 3%.
These business credit cards are eligible for Preferred Rewards for Business bonus rewards:
  • Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
    .
  • Bank of America® Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
    .
  • Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card
    .
  • Bank of America® WorldPoints Rewards for Business.
These cards are not eligible:
  • Bank of America® Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business card
    .
  • Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card
    .
  • Personal credit cards.

Bank of America® business credit card benefits

In addition to the perks associated with each individual card, here are the benefits you’ll receive with all Bank of America® small-business credit cards:
  • Employee cards: Get cards for your employees and set individual spending limits.
  • Cash management tools: Download transactions into QuickBooks, make automatic payments and take advantage of other online services to manage your finances.
  • $0 liability guarantee: Zero liability for unauthorized transactions. Additional terms and conditions apply.
  • Chip cards: Insert your card or tap to pay where you see the contactless symbol.
  • Overdraft protection: Optional service to link your Bank of America® business checking account to prevent overdrafts, declined purchases or returned checks.
  • Paperless statement option: Opt for online statements instead of paper statements.
  • Online and mobile banking: Manage your account 24/7, no matter where you are.
  • Travel and emergency services: Access to a minimum of $100,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, emergency ticket replacement and lost-luggage assistance associated with your card.

Alternatives to Bank of America® business credit cards

If you’re not a Bank of America® business banking customer or interested in becoming one, other credit card options may better fit your needs. The following competitor cards offer longer 0% introductory APR periods and more flexible rewards.

Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card

Best for: Intro APR and simple cash back
If you’re looking for a longer intro APR period than what the Bank of America® business credit cards offer, consider the Chase
Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card
. This card offers a
0% intro APR on Purchases for 12 months, and then the ongoing APR of 17.74%-23.74% Variable APR
.
This card is also a great option if you don’t qualify for Bank of America’s Preferred Rewards for Business tier, as it matches the unlimited 1.5% cash back of the
Bank of America® Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
— but with a more lucrative sign-up bonus for bigger spenders.

Capital One Spark Miles for Business

Best for: Flexible travel rewards
With the
Capital One Spark Miles for Business
you earn an unlimited 2x miles per dollar on every purchase with no blackouts or seat restrictions on travel. Earn an unlimited 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One travel. You can redeem your miles for flights, hotels and vacation packages, as well as transfer miles to a variety of Capital One’s travel partners.
This card also has a great sign-up bonus, includes a Global Entry or TSA Precheck credit and allows you to get free cards for your employees. Those cards also earn an unlimited 2x miles per dollar.
Although the
Capital One Spark Miles for Business
has an annual fee (
$0 intro for the first year, then $95
), its simple rewards structure and flexible redemption might be a better travel option for you than the
Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card
— which earns 1.5x miles per dollar spent — or
Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card
, which is most valuable when rewards are spent with one airline. (See rates and fees.)
