The Barclaycard Ring® Mastercard® is offering cardholders who join its online community a chance to win $5,000 — plus an extra $1,500 to cover taxes on the prize. In addition, 10 community members will be randomly selected to win a $250 MasterCard gift card.

Barclaycard announced the promotion to cardholders via email.

The Barclaycard Ring® Mastercard®’s online community gives cardholders the opportunity to suggest and vote on changes to the card’s features.

Here’s what you should know about Barclaycard’s “Fresh Start” sweepstakes:

  • How to enter: To qualify, you must join or log into the Barclaycard Ring® Mastercard® Community — that is, you need to have an online account — between Jan. 3 and Jan. 31, 2017, according to the sweepstakes terms.
  • Eligibility: You must have been a Barclaycard Ring® Mastercard® cardholder as of Jan. 2, 2017, and over 18.
  • Odds of winning: The odds of winning depend on the “total number of eligible entries received during the promotion period,” according to the terms. But you can double your chances of winning by filling out a one-question survey about how you’d like to see the Barclaycard Ring® Mastercard® change in 2017 by Jan. 31.
  • Time of drawing: The prize drawing will take place around Feb. 7, 2017.

If your name is drawn, Barclaycard will notify you and ask you to sign an affidavit and a release within a certain time period. Once that’s complete, you’ll receive your prize.

You can fill out Barclaycard’s survey and learn more about the competition here. The full terms are here.
