The British Airways Visa Signature® Card is pulling out all the stops for big spenders, again. For a limited time, the card is offering a three-tier bonus for new cardholders that can add up to as much as 100,000 Avios (the airline’s name for its frequent flyer points). That’s worth $1,600, according to NerdWallet valuations.

This promotion effectively doubles the size of the card’s usual bonus. However, you’ll have to spend more to earn more:

  • Earn 50,000 bonus Avios after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. (This is the same bonus the card offered before.)
  • Earn an additional 25,000 bonus Avios after you spend $10,000 total on purchases within your first year of account opening, for a total of 75,000 bonus Avios.
  • Earn a further 25,000 bonus Avios after you spend $20,000 total on purchases within your first year from account opening, for a total of 100,000 bonus Avios.

You’ll also earn a Travel Together Ticket good for two years when you spend $30,000 in a calendar year. This allows one companion to fly with you at no cost except for taxes and fees.

If you fly frequently with British Airways and plan to spend at least $10,000 in credit card purchases, this offer should send this card to the top of your list. If you’re a frugal traveler, though, consider a travel card with a more attainable sign-up bonus.

This isn’t the first time the British Airways Visa Signature® Card has tried to woo deep-pocketed travelers to its side, and it likely won’t be the last. The card offered the same limited time offer in 2014, and again in 2015.
