Whether you’re starting a new business or growing an existing one, a business credit card is essential when making purchases for the office. When you’re pouring thousands of dollars into desks and staplers, it’s nice to get a few bucks back. To get the highest rewards rate on office supplies, there are really two types of products you should be looking at: cards in the Chase Ink and the Capital One Spark series. Everything else pales in comparison. We’ll show you the top two options in both brands that we consider the best credit cards for office supplies today.
Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card
The Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card offers plenty of benefits for a $0 annual fee. You get 5% cash back on up to $25,000 in combined spending annually at office supply stores and on phone, internet and cable services. The Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card also earns 2% back at gas stations and restaurants on the first $25,000 spent annually. All other purchases yield an unlimited 1% back. The card also offers a sign-up bonus: Earn $500 bonus cash back after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. The Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card comes with a 0% on Purchases and Balance Transfers for 12 months, and then the ongoing APR of 14.74% - 20.74% Variable APR.
Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business
The Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business has the benefit of simplicity. Rather than prescribing varying rewards rates and earning limits to narrowly defined spending categories, the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business kicks back an unlimited 2% on every purchase. There is no limit to the points you can earn, and points will not expire for the life of your account. While the rewards rate is pretty stellar, the sign-up bonus leaves something to be desired: A one-time bonus of 50,000 miles once you spend $4,500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. Rewards can be redeemed for cash back, gift cards, merchandise and travel purchases. Note the annual fee: $0 for the first year, then $95.
Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business
The Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business is nearly identical to the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business. The difference? Redemption options. Whereas the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business comes equipped with a number of redemption categories, the Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business limits redemption to cash only. Some business owners will find this restrictive. Others will welcome the simplicity. Again, the Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business yields an unlimited 2% on every purchase — whether it be new office supplies
or Monday morning donuts. Cash can be redeemed at any time for any amount. As for the sign-up bonus: A one-time $500 cash bonus once you spend $4,500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.
