Spring break is around the corner. And if you’re ready to trade in your snow boots for flip-flops, we’ve got a great credit card for you — the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card. It boasts a killer signup bonus, high ongoing rewards and perks galore.

Here’s what you need to know about this excellent travel rewards card and why it’s your ticket to a great spring break.

Enough miles to take you from a frozen tundra to tropical paradise

With the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card, you’ll get excellent rewards on all your spending — 2X miles on every dollar spent. But the real prize is the signup bonus: Enjoy a one-time bonus of 50,000 miles once you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, equal to $500 in travel. And to hit the required spend of $3,000, you’ll net an additional 6,000 miles. Use your multitude of miles to cover your spring break flight, or save them for summer or holiday travel.

There are two ways to redeem your miles for travel — using Purchase Eraser on past travel purchases or booking new travel reservations.

  • Purchase Eraser: You can either go to the Capital One site or call the rewards center to redeem your miles for travel purchases made within the last 90 days.
  • Book new travel reservations: Go to the Capital One site or call the rewards center to make flight, car rental or hotel reservations, and use miles to cover the purchases.

You can also redeem miles for cash and gift cards.

Fees lower than a limbo stick

The Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card has minimal fees, which are easily outweighed by the high signup bonus and ongoing rewards. You’ll enjoy no foreign transaction or balance transfer fees. There is an annual fee of $0 intro for the first year, then $95, but that’s easily negated and it’s much lower than the industry average for miles cards.

The signup bonus covers the annual fee for more than six years. But even in a world without signup bonuses, you only have to spend $2,950 a year — or around $250 a month — to make up for the annual fee.

Perks that keep on coming even as your tan fades

When you get a new credit card, it should be long-term, not a spring fling. To that end, the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card has benefits that you’ll enjoy long after you get back from your trip. Of course, you’ll continue to benefit from the high ongoing rewards rate and low fees, but you’ll also get these perks:

  • EMV chip for more secure transactions worldwide
  • Extended warranty protection
  • Itemized activity of your authorized user’s spending

Bottom line: With its high rewards and signup bonus, low fees, and extra perks, the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card is an excellent card to pack for spring break. Better yet, it’s a great card for travelers all year long. Now pack up your sunscreen and swimsuit — your beach vacation awaits.
