Which Credit Card Offers Will Help Me Travel to Australia?

If you’re not enjoying the current weather in your hemisphere, you might want to go to Australia. Lucky for you, we’ve found three awesome credit card offers to help you travel down under. Enjoy your trip!

Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®: Best general travel credit card

If you want flexibility in how you book your travel, the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is a great card. It offers 2 miles on every dollar spent and a signup bonus: Enjoy 40,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 90 days — that's enough to redeem for a $400 travel statement credit toward an eligible travel purchase. When redeemed as a statement credit for travel expenses, miles are worth 1 cent each. When you redeem your miles, you’ll also get a 5% miles bonus toward your next redemption. Travel expenses include not only airline tickets and hotel stays, but also things like car rentals, cruises and campgrounds.

The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® has an annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $89, but no foreign transaction fees. There’s an introductory APR of 0% on Balance Transfers for 12 months (on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening), and then the ongoing APR of 16.99%, 20.99% or 23.99% Variable APR.

British Airways Visa Signature® Card: Best for big spenders

If you spend big each year and travel with a companion, the British Airways Visa Signature® Card may be the card for you. It offers 3 Avios (miles) on every dollar spent on British Airways purchases and 1 Avios on every dollar spent on all other purchases. There’s also a signup bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus Avios after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. Earn an additional 25,000 bonus Avios after you spend $10,000 total on purchases within your first year from account opening for a total of 75,000 bonus Avios. Avios are redeemable for flights on OneWorld airlines — including Qantas, Australia’s major carrier.

The British Airways Visa Signature® Card has a $95 annual fee and no foreign transaction fees. You’ll receive a complimentary Travel Together ticket each year you spend $30,000, and the card has an EMV chip for safer transactions in the United States and abroad.

Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard®: Best for booking your flight, but not for Australian spending

If you need a credit card to get a free flight, the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® is a solid option. It offers 1 mile for every $1 spent and double miles on purchases made with American Airlines. There’s also a signup bonus: For a limited time, earn 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after making $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening*. Miles are redeemable for travel statement credit.

Want extra perks? You’ll also get 10% of your redeemed miles back each year (up to 10,000 miles). That comes with annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $95.
