Whether you want to run with the bulls in Pamplona or kiss your sweetie in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, you need a good credit card offer for your European vacation. We’ve identified three great cards for your trip — pack one of these to rack up the rewards and maybe even score a free flight to the European destination of your choice.
British Airways Visa Signature® Card: Best for big spendersBritish Airways Visa Signature® Card is a good card to consider. It offers 3 Avios (miles) on every dollar spent on British Airways purchases and 1 Avios on everything else. There’s also a signup bonus: Earn 4 Avios for every $1 spent on all purchases within your first year up to $30,000. That's up to 120,000 bonus Avios. Every calendar year you make $30,000 in purchases on your British Airways Visa card, you'll earn a Travel Together Ticket good for two years. Avios are redeemable for flights on any of the OneWorld airlines, including American Airlines.
The British Airways Visa Signature® Card has a $95 annual fee, but no foreign transaction fees. You can tap to pay thanks to contactless payment capabilities in the United States and abroad.
Miles & More® Premier World MasterCard®: Best for booking flights on a wide variety of European airlines
If you frequently fly on European airlines, the Miles & More® Premier World MasterCard® is a great card. It offers 2 miles on every dollar spent on ticket purchases from Miles & More airline partners and 1 mile on everything else. There’s also a signup bonus: Earn 20,000 award miles after your first purchase and payment of the annual fee. Additionally, you’ll receive a companion ticket after your first purchase and annually after that.
The Miles & More® Premier World MasterCard® has an annual fee of $79 and no foreign transaction fees. However, there’s no EMV chip, which means it might not be accepted widely in Europe. For this reason, we recommend using the card to purchase your ticket, not shop overseas. The card has an introductory APR of 0% on balance transfers for 15 months on balance transfers made within the first 45 days of account opening, and then the ongoing APR of 15.99% or 24.99% Variable.
