The Deserve® Pro Mastercard has gotten a bit more attractive for prospective travelers, thanks to a recently added perk.

New cardholders approved as of Nov. 30, 2018, who spend $1,000 in the first 90 days after activating their card will get a complimentary one-year Priority Pass Select membership, a perk valued at $99. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge network. Deserve notes that membership will grant eligible cardholders access to more than 1,200 lounges worldwide.

Deserve says it will also be making this offer available to some current cardholders by invitation, but declined to offer further details.

Cardholders will still have to pay $27 per visit for themselves and their guests, a slight discount from the usual $32 fee. But they’ll also have access to food, drinks, Wi-Fi, charging stations and more, depending on the lounge they visit. Terms apply.

That might make it worth spending the per-visit fee, especially if you have a long layover or you can offset the cost with free food and beverages once you’re in the lounge. (Food sold on the airport concourse can be pricey.)

Overall, the perk makes for a nice addition to the travel-friendly features that the Deserve® Pro Mastercard already offers. The card has no foreign transaction fees and, as a Mastercard, is widely accepted abroad. The card earns 3% cash back on travel and entertainment and 2% cash back at restaurants on up to $500 in combined purchases per billing cycle. All other purchases earn 1%. It has a $0 annual fee.

Deserve began offering credit cards in 2017, and since then the startup company has rolled out several new perks and features for cardholders. This new one makes the Deserve® Pro Mastercard stand out among typical bare-bones starter cards that generally don’t offer travel benefits for those new to credit.

It doesn’t compare to the airport lounge access provided by certain premium travel credit cards, but those options usually charge hefty annual fees and typically require good credit.
