Mississippi State University

Mississippi State University was ranked the 12th most crime-rattled university in the country, according to the Daily Beast’s latest study. Mississippi State made the list because of the high number of burglaries (93), aggravated assaults (12) and forcible sexual assaults (6). These static numbers are intimidating, but when compared to the national average, there’s no reason to deem Mississippi State dangerous.

The Daily Beast doesn’t even account for forcible sexual assaults, a figure which Mississippi State clocks in at half the national average. In addition, they had half the national average of robberies and only one account of arson – a bulletin board set on fire resulting in no deaths or injuries. At first glance, Mississippi State’s numbers may seem like a threat, but in reality, their crime is about as average as it gets.
