Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

A business credit card with a 0% balance transfer period can help you save money on interest, free up cash flow and pay down your debt faster. While these business credit cards are uncommon, they can be valuable tools for entrepreneurs looking to consolidate or refinance high-interest business credit card debt.
The best balance transfer cards for small businesses offer a long 0% APR window on purchases and transfers, as well as manageable transfer fees. Beyond that, look for a card with solid rewards or a sign-up bonus to extend its value beyond the introductory period.
A personal credit card may be the best option for solopreneurs with relatively minimal debt to transfer — think thousands, not tens of thousands. You can typically use a consumer credit card for business expenses; just make sure you don't also use that card for personal spending.
Note: Some of our selections can be applied for through NerdWallet, and some cannot. Below, you’ll find application links for the credit cards from our partners that are available through NerdWallet, followed by the full list of our picks.

NerdWallet's editorial picks: Best business credit cards for balance transfers

Our picks are ordered by the length of the intro APR period. Before applying, confirm details on the issuer’s website.

U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card

Best for: Longest interest-free period
NerdWallet star rating: 2.2
Intro APR offer:
0% intro APR for 18 billing cycles on purchases and balance transfers, and then the ongoing APR of 17.24%-26.24% Variable APR
The 0% introductory APR period on the
U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card
is far longer than what you'll find on competing cards, and it applies to balance transfer and new purchases. The balance transfer fee is:
Either 3% of the amount of each transfer or $5 minimum, whichever is greater
. The card's main drawbacks are no ongoing perks or rewards and a 3% foreign transaction fee, making it a poor choice for spending abroad.

U.S. Bank Business Triple Cash Rewards World Elite Mastercard®

Best for: Overall balance transfer business card
NerdWallet star rating:

PNC Visa® Business Credit Card

Best for: 90-day transfer window
This card is not rated by NerdWallet
Intro APR offer: 0% APR for 13 billing cycles on balances transferred within 90 days, and then an ongoing variable APR of 15.24% to 25.24% (as of this writing)
Most balance transfer cards give you 30 days to move your debt, but the PNC Visa Business card offers a 90-day window, providing more wiggle room to plan a debt payoff strategy. But be mindful of making multiple transfers, as each incurs a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater. The PNC Visa Business card doesn’t offer many bells and whistles beyond that, though, so consider it solely for paying off existing debt.

Wells Fargo Reflect® Card

Best for: Sole proprietors (personal card)
NerdWallet star rating:
4.5
Intro APR offer:
0% intro APR for 21 months from account opening on purchases and qualifying balance transfers, and then the ongoing APR of 18.24%, 24.74%, or 29.99% Variable APR
The
Wells Fargo Reflect® Card
is a personal credit card. It's worth a look for sole proprietors because it has one of the longest 0% intro APR periods on the market — approaching almost two years. You'll be hard-pressed to find a longer interest-free promotion, and it applies to both purchases and balance transfers. The balance transfer fee is
5%, min: $5
. Read our review.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

Best for: Sole proprietors (personal card)
NerdWallet star rating:
5
Intro APR offer:
0% intro APR on purchases and Balance Transfers for 15 months, and then the ongoing APR of 20.49%-29.24% Variable APR
The
Chase Freedom Unlimited®
is another personal credit card solopreneurs may want to consider. It offers a 0% introductory APR period, ongoing cash back and the opportunity to earn a solid cash bonus if you make other purchases on the card:
Earn an additional 1.5% cash back on everything you buy (on up to $20,000 spent in the first year) - worth up to $300 cash back!
The balance transfer fee is:
Either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater.

Balance transfer business cards from local and regional banks

Some local banks and credit unions offer business credit cards with 0% APR balance transfer periods.
Consider options like:
  • M&T Bank Business Rewards Credit Card, which offers 0% APR on balance transfers for the first 12 months. There is a 4% or $10 fee for balance transfers, whichever is higher. M&T Bank serves the mid-Atlantic states.
  • First Citizens Bank Rewards Business Credit Card, which comes with 0% APR on balance transfers for the first nine months. Balance transfers come with a 3% fee ($5 minimum). First Citizens Bank has branches in 23 states.
  • The Umpqua Bank Visa Business Card, which offers 0% APR on balance transfers for the first 18 months. There’s a 3% or $5 fee for balance transfers, whichever is greater. Umpqua Bank has branches in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and this card is issued by Elan Financial Services.
These smaller banks may require you to visit a branch in person to open an account.

How do balance transfer business credit cards work?

These are the steps involved in transferring a business credit card balance.
  • Choose a balance transfer credit card. Compare cards based on the 0% APR period, balance transfer fee and any ongoing perks or rewards. Only a handful of business cards offer a 0% APR period for balance transfers. Sole proprietors can consider a personal card with a 0% balance transfer offer, expanding the list of options.
  • Note your credit limit. If you’re trying to consolidate $20,000 in credit card debt but your credit limit is $15,000, the maximum you’ll be able to transfer to the new card is $15,000 — and the issuer may not approve that entire amount. Business cards tend to come with higher limits than personal cards but may still limit how much you can transfer.
  • Pay the balance transfer fee. Even 0% APR balance transfer business credit cards can come with balance transfer fees. These are usually a percentage of the total balance. For instance, if you’re transferring $10,000 of credit card debt and your card charges a 5% fee, you’ll pay $500.
  • Pay down the transferred debt. If you’re using a 0% APR card, try to pay off your debt before that period ends. Just avoid missing payments — otherwise your credit card issuer can end your interest-free period early and charge you an even higher APR as a penalty.
  • Pay the ongoing APR after the promotional period ends. If your 0% APR intro period lasts nine billing cycles, then during the tenth billing cycle, you’ll owe whatever ongoing interest rate your card charges on the remaining balance. For example, if you have $2,000 left to pay and your card charges a 20% APR, you’ll owe $33.14 in interest that month.

🤓 Nerdy Tip

All business owners should keep their business and personal spending separate to avoid tax-related headaches. But incorporated businesses especially should avoid using a personal credit card for business expenses. Using a card in your own name, rather than the business name, could jeopardize your limited liability protections. See our picks for the best business credit cards for LLCs.
