If you’ve ever wished you could have stayed longer on a trip, there’s a new deal that might interest you.
Starwood hotels and resorts around the globe participating in the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program are offering 40% off every second night when you use an American Express credit card or charge card to book a stay of two or more consecutive nights through Jan. 31, 2018.
There are a few items to factor into your travel planning: blackout dates, room availability and the minimum night requirement, which may vary at resorts. You also can’t redeem free-night awards for the first stay or combine this offer with other promotions.
You’ll also want to be sure you are fully committed to your travel plans: The stays are nonrefundable and reservations can’t be changed.
If this deal is a good fit and you have the following cards, you could use it to earn hefty rewards toward future nights. Here’s a look:
- The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express can earn up to 5 Starpoints on every $1 spent on qualifying purchases at participating SPG hotels. Terms apply.
- The Platinum Card® from American Express can earn you a total of 3 Starpoints for every eligible $1 spent at SPG participating hotels when you enroll in the SPG program’s complimentary Gold Status (as long as you have not earned a minimum of 75 eligible nights in a qualifying period). On top of that, through this deal, you’d earn 1 American Express Membership Rewards point per $1 spent. Terms apply.
With an American Express card, there’s also a separate offer you could consider — AmEx’s fall deal — which offers up to 40% off on hotels booked on the company’s travel portal, amextravel.com, through Nov. 27, 2017, for stays before Jan. 7, 2018.
With the holidays around the corner, every penny counts, but you can save on holiday travel and earn points toward visits for the next year.
