Aw nerds! Looks like this page may be out of date. Head over to our Rewards Credit Cards page for updated info.

If you hate the idea of turning on the oven this time of year, the Nerds have some news that will make you feel good about dining out: Between July 1, 2014 and September 15, 2014, every time you use your MasterCard to make a restaurant purchase of $10 or more, MasterCard will make a donation to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). This is a great way to make the most of every meal out. Ready to learn more? Take a look at the details below.

Getting involved is as easy as swiping your card

Everyone likes to do good, but it’s even better when giving back is as easy as swiping your credit card. That’s why we’re so excited about MasterCard’s collaboration with SU2C; all you have to do is use your MasterCard at any storefront coded as a restaurant between July 1, 2014, and September 15, 2014. Spend at least $10 and MasterCard will donate $.01 to SU2C, up to $4 million.

Keep in mind that fast-food joints, bistros, five-star establishments and every eatery in between counts toward this promotion. This means you could be making a difference with every burger, salad and pasta dish you enjoy this summer!

This is MasterCard’s fourth consecutive year working with SU2C, but this year’s campaign is special because it coincides with the launch of the company’s Priceless Causes initiative. In a media release, Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing officer at MasterCard, stated:

“By aligning a powerful cause with an everyday activity that consumers are already enjoying – the simple act of dining out – we have been able to help drive over $20 million in donations to help further critical cancer research initiatives. … The theme of this year’s program leverages our recently introduced Priceless Causes platform which is focused on uniting people around social initiatives to drive an impact.”

Want to impress your date? Opt for a Priceless Table

If you’re looking for another way to enjoy dining out with your MasterCard this summer (or impress a first date), think about booking a reservation at the MasterCard Priceless Table in New York City.

Between July 16, 2014, and August 2, 2014, you have the chance to enjoy a meal 25 feet above Times Square at this exclusive dining destination. If you can get in (they begin taking reservations on July 8, 2014, so mark your calendar!), you’ll enjoy a delicious prix fixe meal at a communal table with other MasterCard customers. Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson will be doing the cooking, so be sure to come hungry!

More about SU2C

If you’re not familiar with SU2C, the organization’s mission is to raise funds for research projects aimed at developing life-saving treatments for people diagnosed with cancer. The group relies on popular celebrities like Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet to get out the message about their important work. From the organization’s website:

“SU2C brings together the best and the brightest researchers and mandates collaboration among the cancer community. By galvanizing the entertainment industry, SU2C has set out to generate awareness, educate the public on cancer prevention and help more people diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors.”

Don’t have a MasterCard? We have some suggestions

If you want to support MasterCard’s work with SU2C, but don’t have one of their cards, the Nerds have you covered:

  • Use our credit card tool to pick a card that fits your needs; just be sure that the card you choose is in the MasterCard network if you want to get in on this initiative.
  • Check out our picks for the best MasterCards on the market today.

The takeaway: Supporting the important work of SU2C is as easy as using your MasterCard when you spend $10 on restaurant purchases between July 1, 2014, and September 15, 2014. The Nerds think this opportunity to contribute to a good cause while enjoying a delicious meal is truly Priceless!
