The Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card has plenty going for it: cash back rates as high as 5% for common business purchases, a 0% introductory APR period, a big cash sign-up bonus and a $0 annual fee. Those factors combine to make it a favorite with small business owners, but it might not be ideal for bigger spenders.

Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card: Benefits

  • A stellar sign-up bonus. Earn $500 bonus cash back after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s one of the biggest cash bonuses available on any card from any issuer — even among those with annual fees.
  • Bonus rewards in common business categories. This card earns:
    • 5% cash back on up to $25,000 a year in spending at office supply stores and on cable, internet and phone service.
    • 2% cash back on up to $25,000 a year in spending at gas stations and restaurants.
    • 1% cash back on all other spending.
  • An introductory 0% APR period. The APR is 0% on Purchases and Balance Transfers for 12 months, and then the ongoing APR of 14.99% - 20.99% Variable APR. A zero-interest offer is fairly unusual among business credit cards, making this a good option for an entrepreneur looking at startup costs.
  • A $0 annual fee.

Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card: Drawbacks

  • The 5% categories aren’t a good fit for many businesses. Plenty of small businesses spend relatively little on office supplies or telecommunication services, meaning they’d reap little in the way of 5% cash back. An option for such businesses is a card that pays a flat rate on all purchases. The Capital One® Spark® Cash Select for Business gives you 1.5% cash back on every purchase with no limit. It has a $0 annual fee, and no foreign transaction fees. There’s also a sign-up bonus: Plus, a one-time $200 cash bonus once you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.
  • Bonus rewards are capped. Keep in mind that once you hit $25,000 in combined spending in your 5% or 2% categories, you’ll earn only 1% cash back for the rest of the year. Other cards have higher limits on bonus rewards. For example, the SimplyCash® Plus Business Credit Card from American Express gives you 5% cash back on up to $50,000 a year in combined spending at office supply stores and wireless providers, 3% cash back on up to $50,000 a year in spending in a category that you choose, and 1% on everything else (terms apply). It, too, has a $0 annual fee and a 0% intro APR period for purchases. It does not have a bonus for new cardholders, though.

Is the Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card right for you?

The Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card doesn’t cost anything to carry. So if your business spends significant money in the bonus categories, it probably makes sense to pull the trigger. That sign-up bonus is too good to pass up, and the 0% intro APR period could come in handy, too.
