T-Mobile's 5G network leads the competition for speed and availability, but lags behind AT&T and Verizon when it comes to reliability, according to recent data from RootMetrics. T-Mobile merged with Sprint in 2020.

T-Mobile family cell phone plans

T-Mobile has three main unlimited plans, as well as specialty plans for senior, members of the military and veterans, and first responders. Opting for automatic payments lets you save $5 per month per line (up to eight lines) on any unlimited plan.

While T-Mobile doesn't advertise these plans as "family plans," you are able to price out the monthly cost for up to five lines per plan. If you want more than five lines, you must speak with customer service and have your credit checked.

Essentials: Video streams in standard definition. Unlimited mobile hotspot data is included, but at 3G speeds, which is slightly slower than the 4G or 5G data speed you get on your smartphone. International features include unlimited texting while outside of the United States, plus talk, text and slower 2G data in Mexico and Canada. These prices do not include taxes and fees, and reflect a limited-time 3rd Line Free offer.

  • Two lines: $100

  • Three lines: $105

  • Four lines: $125

  • Five lines: $145

Magenta: Video streams in standard definition. This plan includes 5GB of high-speed (4G LTE) mobile hotspot data and a basic Netflix subscription. International features include talk, text and 5GB of high-speed data in Mexico and Canada, plus unlimited texting and data at 2G speeds in more than 200 countries. Taxes and fees are included in the price of the plan. These prices reflect a limited-time 3rd Line Free offer.

  • Two lines: $130

  • Three lines: $135

  • Four lines: $160

  • Five lines: $185

Magenta MAX: Video streams up to 4K UHD, but customers must activate this feature and have a device that supports it. This plan includes 40GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data and a standard Netflix subscription with multiple lines. International features include talk, text and 5GB of high-speed data in Mexico and Canada, plus unlimited texting and data with speeds up to 2 GB in more than 200 countries. That's slightly faster than on the Magenta plan, but could still make uploading photos and videos a challenge. Taxes and fees are included in the price of the plan. These prices reflect a limited-time 3rd Line Free offer.

  • Two lines: $150

  • Three lines: $155

  • Four lines: $190

  • Five lines: $225

Magenta Military discounts

T-Mobile offers a discounted rate on the Magenta and Magenta MAX plans to active-duty service members, veterans and their families. See the table below for the total monthly price depending on the number of lines you activate.

The prices listed include taxes and fees, but add-ons such as insurance or device payments are still assessed. You can save $5 per month, per line if you opt for automatic payments. The current "3rd Line Free" offer cannot be combined with the military plans, however. Note that you must verify your military status within 45 days of signing up.

Unlimited 55+

In T-Mobile's most basic plan, customers 55 and older can get two lines of unlimited service for $65 per month plus taxes and fees; $55 if you opt for automatic payments.

Magenta First Responder plans

Customers who qualify as state and local first responders are eligible for two plans. Those who opt for the lowest-price plan can get one line for $60 a month, with greater per-line discounts for additional lines. The plan price includes taxes and fees. This is a limited time offer, however, and available only at participating locations. You'll need to confirm your first responder status after signup and re-verify annually.

Prices listed are for the least expensive plan when more than one unlimited plan is available. The pricing doesn’t include taxes, fees or autopay discounts.
