The Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card doesn’t get as much attention as the more premium Marriott cards like the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card, but this $0 annual fee card offers valuable benefits usually seen on other travel credit cards with annual fees.
You earn 3 points per dollar when you use the card to book qualifying stays at Marriott properties, 2 points per dollar on most other travel purchases and 1 point per dollar on all other spending. That’s on top of the generous welcome bonus: Earn 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Plus, this card gets you Silver elite status in the Marriott Bonvoy program.
But to get the most out of card membership, there’s more to know and do. Here are some tips to help you maximize the benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card.

Get protection when booking travel
The Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card offers generous travel protection benefits.
Use this card to book travel and you’ll get trip delay reimbursement if your travel is postponed 12 or more hours. You’ll get reimbursed for up to $500 per ticket for costs like lodging and meals. This benefit isn't typically seen on a card without an annual fee.
You also receive travel benefits like baggage delay insurance and lost luggage reimbursement. These benefits will give you peace of mind if your travel doesn’t go as planned.
Use it abroad
Another great benefit of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is there are no foreign transaction fees. Many no-fee cards, like the Chase Freedom®, charge customers up to 3% in fees when you use your card outside the U.S.
So not only will you earn double Marriott Bonvoy points on airfare, trains, cruises, buses, taxis and many other travel purchases, you will also save money by not being charged foreign transaction fees.
Get Silver, fast track yourself to Gold status
Cardholders of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card receive 15 elite night credits toward Marriott status, which is enough to automatically make you a Silver Elite member. That puts you within reach of the more valuable Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, which starts when you earn 25 elite night credits per year.
Gold Elite status benefits can include room upgrades, hotel welcome gift points, 2 p.m. late checkout and even a 25% bonus on points earned for paid nights.
And remember, award night bookings count toward elite night credits so reaching Gold status might be easier than you think.
Earn more points on paid stays
As a Silver Elite member, you will earn an additional 10% bonus on points on top of the 10 points per dollar every member earns for qualifying Marriott stays. This is in addition to the 3 points per dollar you earn from your Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card at Marriott properties. Those combined bonus earnings mean you’ll get up to 14 points per dollar at Marriott properties as a Silver Elite when you pay with your card.
Refer a friend to earn points for yourself
One of the undervalued benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is being rewarded when you refer family and friends to any Marriott credit card.
You can earn 20,000 Marriott points per referral, up to 100,000 points each year, when friends or family are approved with your specific referral.
Transfer points to airline partners
One amazing benefit of earning points with your Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is being able to transfer them to over 40 airline partners including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
For many of Bonvoy’s airline partners, you get 1 mile for every 3 Bonvoy points transferred. When you transfer 60,000 points to one of their airline partners, Marriott will give you an extra 5,000 airline miles. So if you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points the 5,000-mile bonus means you’ll get 25,000 airline miles.
Some of the flights you can get with those miles amount to an excellent value. For example, you can fly from the continental U.S. to Hawaii for only 7,500 Turkish Airline miles one way in economy. So use your welcome bonus of Bonvoy points well and they’re more than enough to get you to Hawaii and back.
Other airline transfer partners open up a world of exciting travel possibilities. For example, Alaska Airlines allows customers to have a stopover on one-way award flights — a great way to enjoy your transferred Bonvoy points. And the more you use your Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, the faster you can reward yourself with business class on one of Marriott’s partner airlines.
