iphone-6sWhether it’s an iPhone or a MacBook, Apple products are at the top of many students’ back-to-school and back-to-college shopping lists. But outfitting yourself with a new laptop on top of that stack of new textbooks — not to mention the cart full of pencils and notebooks — can rack up quite the bill.

Don’t want to pay full price for your back-to-school tech purchase? Here are some of the best Apple deals happening now.

All things Apple

At the Apple Education Store, students can get a free pair of Beats headphones when they purchase an eligible Mac, iPad or iPhone for college. For instance, get a pair of Beats Solo2 wireless headphones with an eligible Mac or Powerbeats2 wireless headphones with an iPhone 6 or 6S. Additionally, thanks to Apple education pricing, students can get a discount on qualifying Mac and iPad models.


Wal-Mart has the iPad Air 2 16GB Wi-Fi version in gold on sale for $349 (regularly $399). If you’re interested in a less expensive model, the store also has the iPad mini 2 16GB Wi-Fi model in silver or space gray on sale for $229 (was $269).

At Best Buy, college students can take $150 off the current price of a MacBook laptop or iMac computer. To qualify, you’ll have to register for the Best Buy College Student Deals program and input a promotional code (it will be emailed to you) at checkout.

If a year-old model doesn’t deter you, grab a deal at B&H. The retailer has the 2015 MacBook Air 13.3-inch laptop with 128GB storage on sale for $799 (regularly $999). Keep in mind there’s a limited supply available at this price.


At Apple, trade in your current phone and get credit to put toward a new one. Offers range from an estimated $50 for an iPhone 4S trade-in to $250 for an iPhone 6 Plus.

Over at AT&T, buy one iPhone 6S and get another one free when you switch to AT&T, add a second line and buy both on AT&T Next. Some restrictions apply. See your local AT&T for full offer details and eligibility requirements. Offer ends Aug. 31.

Similarly, you can also get a free iPhone 6S when you switch to Sprint. Buy one iPhone 6S (64GB or 128GB) and get one of equal or lesser value for free when you add a second line. Some restrictions and requirements apply.

At Target, get a $50 gift card when you purchase a qualifying iPhone SE and activate it on an installment billing plan. This offer is available in-store only at stores with Target Mobile. Quantities are limited, and the deal expires on Aug. 20.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch Sport starts at $299.99, but right now, Target has discounted the smartwatch by about 17%. Shoppers can get the 38mm space gray watch with aluminum case and black sport band, for example, for $249.99.

If you’re interested in an Apple Watch with a stainless steel case and black sport band, Best Buy has that version on sale for $349 (regularly $549).
