Best h.h. gregg Black Friday Deals from 2012

The best h.h. gregg Black Friday deals for 2012 began Thanksgiving night, Thursday, at 10pm and ran through Saturday. The home appliance and electronics retailer had an 8-page ad that year covering 131 items. Possibly out of convenience and consistency, the graphics and formatting for the ad were actually the same ones as used in its 2011 ad, but the items varied with the current trends at the time.

Big-ticket electronics held the spotlight. Televisions dominated half the first page and all of the second and third, with the range between $89.99 for a not-named 19” HDTV and the substantive $1,799.99 for the Sharp Aquos 70” LED 1080p 120Hz HDTV.

One surprise came in the unexpected amount of discounted tablets and home theater systems. The best deal for tablets appeared to be the 7” 4GB Android Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet at the new price of $49.99 (50% off). Two tablets not on sale were the big brands, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7” at $199.99 (same price as Amazon) and the Nexus 7 Google Android Tablet at $249.99. In the realm of home theater systems, a few good discounts surfaced: 50% off all Klipsch Synergy sound system devices and 47.36% off the Pioneer 550-Watt 3D 5.1 Network Receiver (with the new price of $199.99). Still on the topic of theater systems, soundbars had a range of lengths and prices from the iPhone-fitting soundbar at $29.99 to the Energy Power Bart Elite soundbar at $349.99. The latter had the impressive savings of $250.

The number of discounted laptops, though, decreased from eight in 2011 to four in 2012. The cheapest of the four was the 30% off 15.6” Toshiba with AMD Dual-Core E-3DD Accelerated Processor, 4GB memory and 320GB HD at the price of $279.99.

Apart from the electronics and home theater departments, h.h. gregg did advertise on its home appliance selection. Three 50% off products included the $888.88 GE Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator (although the size of the fridge is not listed) and the $399.99 each for the Whirlpool 3.6 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Top-Load Washer and the 7.4 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Electric Dryer.

The Thursday store opening may have helped h.h. gregg, along with other competitive retailers, with its foot traffic that year, but the store ultimately didn’t have a flourishing holiday season. The net sales decreased by 3.6% in its October-December 2012, third fiscal quarter, results as compared to the same quarter in 2011.
