Time Life is a creator and direct marketer of music, videos, DVDs, and multimedia products. The company also used to sell books but since 2003 the company no longer has a book division, though the company still offers customers good Time Life coupons and discounts. Time Life sells its products through television, print, retail, online, telemarketing, and direct sales. Time Life was founded in 1961 as the book division of the company Time Inc.

The name Time Life comes from the Time Inc. company’s magazines Time and Life. In 1966, Time Life began offering music collections in addition to their book offerings. These music collections were packaged as a sturdy box set that included two to six records. In 1990, when record labels stopped producing vinyl, Time Life sold CDs instead. In the mid-1990s, Time Life acquired Heartland music. In 2003, Time Life was acquired by Ripplewood Holdings L.L.C. and ZelnickMedia Corporation to become part of Direct Holdings Worldwide L.L.C.

The legal name of Time Life is now Direct Holdings US Corp and it is no longer owned by its former parent company Time Warner (formerly Time Inc.). In the 1960s and 1970s Time Life catered their music collection to a conservative adult audience which included classical jazz, swing, and orchestral music. In the early 1980s, in order to broaden their audience, Time Life began offering country music albums. In 1986, Time Life expanded their collection even more by introducing rock music. The rock music collections Time Life offered were very successful and pop music collections soon followed.

The TimeLife.com website offers music, classic TV, and documentary products. The music category is divided into three sub-categories: genre, era, and popular products. All music is sold as collections in CD box sets. The classic TV category includes popular television series from the 1960s and 1970s. Many of the television shows offered on the website are complete collections.

Documentaries available on the TimeLife.com website are historical documentaries, many with a focus on war. The website also has ‘bestsellers’ and ‘clearance’ links, and also often offers special Time Life deals and seasonal sales. Timelife.com offers free standard shipping on all orders and a 30-day money back guarantee. After purchasing items, customers can track their orders using a link at the bottom of the page.
