The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® has been removed from the market. See our best travel credit cards roundup for other options.
It’s true: The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is one of the best cards on the market today. It’s a great choice for folks looking for a stellar rewards rate, a big signup bonus and flexible travel redemption options. In fact, many of the Nerds have this card in their own wallets.
But if you’re not familiar with this type of travel rewards credit card, you might be confused about how to cash in your miles. Never fear – we have an explanation below that should answer any of your lingering questions. Plus, we’ve included a few reminders about what makes the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® so special.
How to earn miles with your Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®
One of the best things about the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is how easy and fast it is to build up big rewards. With it, you’ll earn 2 miles for every dollar you spend, no matter what type of purchase you’re making, and you’ll get 5% of your miles back when you redeem.
Also keep in mind that you’ll have the opportunity to earn even more miles with RewardsBoost, the bonus mall operated by Barclaycard. By doing your online shopping through this portal, you could be raking in extra miles on every dollar you spend. Since more miles means more travel, this is an important benefit to keep in mind.
How to redeem miles with your Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®
Aside from making it simple to earn miles, the other great thing about the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is that you can cash them in for nearly any travel purchase you’ve made with the card in the last 120 days. You’ll simply log into your account online, click on the “Manage Rewards” tab, then, under the heading “Travel Statement Credits,” click “Redeem Now.”
Then, you’ll see a drop-down list of your eligible travel spends. This could be anything from airfare, hotel stays, a cruise booking — as long as it was coded as “travel” and it cost at least $100, you’ll see it on the list. From here, you’ll select the purchase you want to cash in your miles for. Remember, you can redeem for the whole amount or just a portion.
After confirming your redemption, you’ll see your new rewards balance on your account home screen. This will include the 5% of your miles refunded to you when you redeem. Then you just kick back and wait. Within a few days, a statement credit will post to your account for the miles you cashed in.
Nerd note: Besides redeeming for travel, you can also cash in your miles for a statement credit, gift cards, or merchandise. But we don’t recommend picking these options because you’ll generally only get about a half-cent per mile.
If you’re looking for a card that earns stellar rewards, but you don’t travel much, a cash-back card like the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer might be a better fit.
