Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own.

State Farm may be best known as an insurance provider, but it also offers an assortment of credit cards, some of which offer bonus rewards when you pay your insurance premiums with your eligible State Farm card.

There is a catch when it comes to applying: Online applications can be submitted only by State Farm customers/policyholders or State Farm Bank account holders. Otherwise, you'll have to call or visit a local State Farm agent to apply.

Nerd tip: In early 2021, State Farm credit card accounts will be converted to U.S. Bank-issued products.

Among the suite of State Farm credit cards, the State Farm® Rewards Visa® Credit Card offers a straightforward earnings structure, including elevated rewards on insurance premium payments.

Pros

The opportunity on this card to earn bonus rewards on your insurance premium spending is a rare find. With an annual fee of $0, it won't cost you anything to carry it either.

Cons

Once you hit $4,000 in annual spending on insurance premiums, the rewards rate drops to a mediocre 1 point per dollar. Squeezing the best value out of your points when you're ready to redeem can be complicated and cumbersome.

  • Earn 1 State Farm Loyalty Rewards® point for every $1 spent on eligible purchases.
  • Earn 3 points for every $1 spent on insurance premium payments, up to $4,000 annually.
  • Redeem points for gift cards at popular retailers, or for e-certificates, catalog merchandise, air travel, hotels, and eligible State Farm products.
  • Redemption premium when points are applied toward a qualifying State Farm product.

The State Farm® Good Neighbor Visa® Credit Card offers a lengthy introductory period of interest-free breathing room on purchases and transfers.

There are no rewards with the State Farm® Good Neighbor Visa® Credit Card, and you can likely find longer 0% APR offers on purchases and/or balance transfers.

When your credit file is slim, so are your options for credit cards. The State Farm® Student Visa® Credit Card offers a shot at shoring up credit while earning rewards, too.

Pros

There aren't many cards for those with just-OK credit that also let you earn rewards, but the State Farm® Student Visa® Credit Card is one of them. With this $0-annual-fee card, you'll get 1 point for every $2 spent on eligible purchases and 3 points per $1 spent on insurance premium payments, on up to $4,000 spent annually. Cardholders are also eligible for student discounts from Visa.

Cons

There are other cards on the market aimed at students that offer more robust rewards. Redemption options include State Farm products and gift cards but not cash back. The State Farm® Student Visa® Credit Card has a 3% foreign transaction fee, making it a poor choice for use abroad.

  • Earn 1 State Farm Loyalty Rewards® point for every $2 spent on eligible purchases.
  • Earn 3 points for every $1 spent on insurance premium payments, up to $4,000 annually.
  • Competitive annual percentage rates.
  • Many student discounts provided by Visa.
