Among home warranty providers, Liberty Home Guard stands out as the one with the best customer service ratings on multiple review sites. For many, that makes it a top choice.
Liberty’s plan premiums are midrange compared to competitors. And unlike others, it offers 60-day guarantees on contractor work and the option to choose your own technician. Customers can choose from three plans for coverage of appliances only, systems only or a combination. The main downside: It has relatively low coverage caps, which could leave you paying more out of pocket.

How does Liberty Home Guard’s warranty work?
Liberty Home Guard has home warranties that cover appliances and home systems that need to be repaired or replaced due to wear and tear. Its three home warranty plans are:
Appliance Guard covers appliances, including clothes washer and dryer, primary refrigerator, dishwasher, ovens/ranges, and built-in microwaves.
Systems Guard has coverage for main home systems, including heater, air conditioner, plumbing, electrical, ductwork and water heaters.
Total Plan combines the other two plans to cover appliances and major in-home systems.
For an additional cost, Liberty Home Guard also offers add-on coverage for items that are not included in its plans, such as a pool or limited roof leak repair.
The company’s home warranty plans will cover repairs and replacements for items that malfunction due to normal wear and tear — expected issues that result from everyday use. It doesn’t cover the cost of routine maintenance (such as cleaning) or damage due to other causes, such as improper installation or improper repair by you or a third party.
For example, if your built-in microwave stops working because a component wore out, a home warranty plan is likely to pay for its repair. But if it stops working because it was improperly installed, it wouldn't be covered.

Like most other home warranty companies, Liberty Home Guard allows customers to file a claim by phone or through an online portal. Customers can file a new claim, see the status of existing claims and view their claim history on both desktop and the mobile app.

If you go with a Liberty Home Guard technician, they'll usually contact you to schedule an appointment within 48 hours. If you prefer to use your own technician, you’ll have to submit their information to Liberty Home Guard for review before scheduling a repair. The technician will let Liberty Home Guard know what they think is causing the issue and whether they can repair it. After a quick review, the company will notify you if your claim is approved.
Liberty Home Guard’s plans limit how much the company will pay toward a repair or replacement, which is common with home warranty providers. During your plan’s term, Liberty Home Guard will pay or reimburse you up to:

$2,000 for air conditioning systems.

Liberty Home Guard plans come with monthly premiums, which start at $49.99. If you pay for an annual plan, the effective rate for the least expensive plan is $35.71 per month, the company confirms. Liberty gives customers quotes based on where they live and the plan they choose.

Depending on the claim, Liberty Home Guard will charge customers between $70 and $125 per visit. Because Liberty Home Guard guarantees their repairs for 60 days, any additional work that requires a technician to come to your house during that time frame would be free.
