If you’re looking for user-friendly, cloud-based invoicing software with an equally functional mobile option, Invoice2go might be a good fit. This software is best for sole proprietors, freelancers and very small businesses that have low invoicing volume and don’t already have their invoicing needs met by their accounting software.
However, Invoice2go is expensive for what it offers. Business owners searching for a basic invoicing program should browse free invoice software options first to see if they can meet their needs for less.
How does Invoice2go work?
Invoice2go offers several invoice templates that you can customize with your own color scheme and company logo. If a project needs to be quoted ahead of time, the software lets you send estimates, too. Clients can accept or turn down the estimate online, and submit an upfront deposit if necessary. Invoices include fields for payment terms, due date, product or service details, sales tax, applicable discounts and any extra notes.
After all billable expenses have been recorded, invoices can be sent via email, text, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. Invoice2go can accept major credit and debit card payments, or payments through PayPal. Invoices update automatically after payment.

From there, a dashboard shows you when your invoices have been opened by your clients or are overdue. Invoice2go also gives you the option of turning on payment reminders to help the process move along.

Choosing the right Invoice2go plan for you depends most heavily on how many invoices you need to send per month and whether you need Invoice2go to integrate with existing accounting software. Invoice2go gives business owners the ability to send and track professional-looking invoices from anywhere. The mobile app in particular has a streamlined flow and clean look. While the product isn’t as robust as an accounting program might be, it offers businesses a simple way to manage the invoicing process — from sending estimates to requesting feedback and browsing reports.
At the very least, invoice software should let you choose from a few templates and add your business’s logo. Invoice2go offers these options and more by letting users change the color scheme and also add a banner, watermark and accreditation badge. The process is straightforward, whether you’re on a desktop computer or mobile device.
Limited functionality for more complex small businesses
Invoice2go essentially does what it says: It’s an easy, convenient invoicing service with a mobile option — but it doesn’t do too much more than that. If you need a fully fledged accounting package, then Invoice2go probably can’t offer you the services you need. In that case, look toward a more robust accounting solution with an invoicing feature, like Xero or QuickBooks Online.
Limited integrations in Starter plan
Invoice2go’s Starter plan doesn’t include integrations for accounting software or other third-party online business tools. While the middle-tier Professional plan does include these integrations, it only lets users send five invoices per month. Businesses that are complex enough to have a financial software suite will likely need to send more invoices than that. And at that point, their accounting software’s built-in invoicing capabilities could make it difficult to justify an extra $39.99 per month for Invoice2go’s Premium plan.
While Invoice2go has solid features, like a user-friendly mobile app and the ability to request reviews from clients, it's difficult to justify spending money to send two invoices per month in the Starter plan. A handful of free invoice software products include similar features and allow businesses to send more invoices per month.
If Invoice2go isn’t the best fit for your business, consider these alternatives, including some free invoice software products that offer just as much — if not more — functionality.

Invoice Ninja is a good fit for very small businesses that don’t need a robust invoicing solution (and don’t want to pay for one, either). The software lets you create customized invoices with your own business logo, accept payment through over a dozen payment gateways and set up recurring invoices and auto-billing. It also has some basic task-management capabilities and a time tracking feature. Its free service plan accommodates unlimited invoicing for up to 20 clients. Users can pay $10 per month for unlimited invoices in the Ninja Pro plan.
If you’d like access to more business management features, consider Zoho Invoice. In addition to the invoicing features you’d expect, Zoho Invoice features a collaborative client portal and integration with several apps — including the Zoho customer relationship management and project management software, as well as popular payment gateways like PayPal, Square and Stripe. For an in-house accounting software solution with invoicing capabilities, explore Zoho Books.

Freelancers who want simple accounting software with robust invoicing solutions might consider FreshBooks. The product is equally known for its full-service accounting tools, so you can handle all your bookkeeping tasks within the same software. Like Invoice2go, FreshBooks has an intuitive mobile app that makes it easy to send invoices from anywhere. Considering its wide-ranging capabilities, FreshBooks is relatively affordable, too. It offers four service plans, for either $15, $30, $55 or custom pricing per month.
