And if you already have one of these stellar cash rewards cards but feel like you’re missing out on the features of the other, you may consider making space for both in your wallet.

Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer: Extra rewards

The Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer offers 1% cash back on purchases when you make them, and another 1% back when you pay them off. You can start redeeming your rewards at $25 for statement credit, gift card or check.

The Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer has an annual fee of $0 and foreign transaction fees of 3%. Plus, there’s an introductory APR of 0% on Balance Transfers for 18 months, and then the ongoing APR of 14.49% - 24.49% Variable APR.

The card boasts Citi-branded perks, like Citi Price Rewind and Citi Private Pass. It also offers a fee pass on your first late payment and flexible billing so you can change your due date to a convenient day for you.

Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card vs. Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer: Which is best for you?

If you ever travel overseas, the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card is your best bet.

The Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card is also great if you want a sign-up bonus. The Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer doesn’t offer one, but the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card boasts a pretty generous cash bonus: One-time $150 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.

On the other hand, for potentially higher ongoing rewards, the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer is the better choice, provided you pay your purchases off in full each month. In the first year, if you spend less than $20,000, the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card will net you better rewards. Every year after that, the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer offers the best rewards rate.

Should you consider both the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card and Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer?

If you travel overseas occasionally and want a sign-up bonus, but also want high ongoing rewards, you may consider getting both cards. Of course, opening two cards at once can hit your credit score — in the form of a decrease to your average length of accounts and a new credit penalty. Instead, if you already have one of these cards in your wallet, you may consider getting the other if you want its features. Alternatively, you can apply for one now, and the other in six months to a year.

If you end up getting both, here’s how you can use them to take advantage of the features of both: Use the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card until you hit the sign-up bonus’s required spend and then again whenever you travel outside of the United States. And use the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer on all of your other purchases.
