Types of Square payment methods
There are four main ways to collect payment from customers via Square.
1. Online
How it works: You set up a Square Online account and use it to build your website, or you integrate Square’s functionality into your existing website. Customers then see Square as a payment option when they check out.
2. In person
How it works: You use Square’s point-of-sale, or POS, hardware for retailers, restaurants or other businesses to let customers swipe, dip or tap their cards to pay for their transactions.
3. Over the phone
How it works: You manually key the customer’s card information into your Square app.
4. Via invoice
How it works: You request payment for goods or services by sending an invoice to the customer via email, text or manually. The invoice contains instructions on how to pay you.
